Massachusetts State Police Union Sues Governor over Vaccine Mandate for State Workers

BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS- September 22nd, 2021– A union of Massachusetts state police officers are suing the governor over the vaccine mandates which go into effect in October. The lawsuit was filled with the Suffolk County Superior Court last Friday.

In August, Governor Baker passed a mandate that would require state employees to receive the Covid vaccine or face termination.

Unlike New York, and Maine’s vaccine Mandates. Massachusetts does allow for personal and religious exemptions. Failure to be vaccinated or receive an exemption by October 17th, may result in termination.

The lawsuit filed by the State Police Association of Massachusetts. A union which represents the vast majority of police in Massachusetts. The lawsuit seeks at least a temporary injunction against the governor’s mandate.

A union of firefighters and police in Oregon is filing a similar suit against Oregon’s governor Brown.
