Bayer To Pull Herbicide Roundup from Store Shelves

NATIONWIDE- July 30th, 2021- Pharmaceutical company Bayer, who recently acquired Monsanto. Announced it will be pulling Roundup from retail store shelves by 2023. This comes after years of lawsuits from individuals claiming Roundup caused them to develop cancer.

The company announced on Thursday that it will be pulling it’s herbicide product in order to prevent future lawsuits from occurring.

In August of 2018 Dewayne Johnson won $39 million for damages caused by the Roundup product, when a court determined Roundup was the cause of his non-hodgkins lymphoma. Since August of 2018. As a result, Bayer has been hit with thousands of lawsuits, and has lost billions of dollars.

For decades glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup, has been the leading herbicide worldwide.

As of writing this article the company has not stated it will be ending the products sales commercially. The product will likely still be used commercially.
