Judge Suspends New York’s Covid Vaccine Mandate to the Extent it Interferes with Worker’s Religion

UTICA, NY- September 14th, 2021– 17 medical professionals filed a lawsuit yesterday against the statewide Covid vaccine mandate for healthcare workers. Today, the judge granted a temporary restraining order for the Plaintiffs. the order also bars the DOH from enforcing any requirement that interferes with a healthcare workers religious convictions.

On August 27th, New Yorks Department of Health removed religious exemptions from it’s Covid vaccine mandate. The Originally, the mandate would have required health care workers to be vaccinated by September 27th. Or face termination.

However, the judges order grants a temporary restraining order. And requires the Governors and her administration to reply by September 22nd. If they wish to oppose the order. Until the hearing scheduled September 28th. The DOH’s removal of a religious exemption in New York’s vaccine mandate, has been suspended. The case was brought forth by the Liberty Counsel.
