NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC- SEPTEMBER 7TH, 2021– Last week New Hanover county mandated a countywide mask mandate. Despite heavy opposition the county voted to implement the mandate. Many protesters were standing outside, but were not allowed in for refusing to wear a mask.
A slew of counties have mandated countywide mask mandates. The first county in NC to implement a mask mandate was Wake county. The mandates began after Governor Cooper did not reinstate a statewide mandate in an executive order.
