LOS ANGELS, CA- SEPTEMBER 2ND, 2021– California and Los Angels County recently settled a lawsuit with Grace Church. The church located in Los Angeles County originally complied with the governors lock down orders. But after seeing no signs of a pandemic, they reopened their doors in defiance of the governors orders. This resulted in many fines from the state and county over the period of nearly one and a half years.
After initially closing the doors of his church in March 2020. John MacArthur decided to reopen his churches doors on July 24th, 2020. He made the reopening announcement in a blog post Christ, not Caesar, Is Head of the Church, in which he announced he would be reopening the church doors.
What followed was a year of litigation and thousands of dollars in fines against the church which refused to close it’s doors. However, after the US Supreme Court ruled that some health safety measures could not apply to places of worship, the county and state decided to settle for the amount of $400,000 each.
California has already paid $2 million dollars to churches.
This comes as Los Angeles city council unanimously votes to approve a vaccine passport.
